POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a detail-oriented, creative, and trend-aware Assistant Buyer to join our team. The Assistant Buyer will play a critical role in supporting the Buyer in all aspects of the buying process, including trend research, vendor relations, order planning, and inventory management. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and have a keen eye for identifying emerging trends and market opportunities. The Assistant Buyer will play a key role in the expansion of our business to new locations and on the web.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist the Buyer in conducting trend research and market analysis to identify emerging fashion trends, key styles, and designer collections that align with the boutique's brand aesthetic and target customer.
- Support the Buyer in developing and executing buying plans, including assortment selection, product pricing, and vendor negotiations, to ensure a well-curated and commercially viable product mix.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to develop visual presentation concepts and product stories that enhance the overall shopping experience and drive sales.
- Collaborate with the marketing and social media teams to drive brand awareness and sales.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors and proactively source new vendors and brands to expand the boutique's product offerings and differentiate our assortment in the market.
- Monitor sales performance and inventory levels, conducting regular analysis to identify sales trends, slow-moving inventory, and opportunities for markdowns or promotions.
- Assist in managing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and ensuring timely receipt of merchandise, communicating with vendors and logistics partners to resolve any issues or delays.
- Provide administrative support to the buying team, including data entry, sample management, and maintaining accurate records of purchase orders, vendor contracts, and pricing information.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments, attending trade shows and fashion events as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in a buying, merchandising, or retail planning role, preferably in the fashion or retail industry.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret OTB reports, sales data, market trends, and customer insights to inform buying decisions and drive business results.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets and experience with retail buying systems or inventory management software is preferred.
- Passion for fashion and a strong understanding of luxury brands, designer collections, and current fashion trends.
